A Toast to Our First Six Months

We welcomed guests to our Sakura & Sake Celebration, an exclusive event in honor of our first six months in business.

Set against the delicate backdrop of hand-placed sakura décor and soft spring lighting, the event was both a thank-you to our loyal supporters and a curated cultural experience that celebrated the spirit of Japanese craftsmanship - not only in eyewear, but also in the art of sake.

Guests were treated to a tasting experience of four premium sakes, each hand-selected to represent a different region of Japan and showcase unique flavor profiles and brewing tradition.

These are the 4 sakes we enjoyed:

1. Kikusui Junmai Ginjo
From Niigata – Light, crisp, and clean with subtle hints of melon and banana. A refreshing and approachable sake perfect for spring.

2. Otokoyama Tokubetsu Junmai
From Hokkaido – Dry and sharp with earthy undertones, this sake offered a bold contrast with a smooth finish, popular with fans of traditional styles.

3. Dassai 45 Junmai Daiginjo
From Yamaguchi – The crowd favorite, praised for its fruit-forward aroma, silky texture, and elegant balance. Accessible yet refined.

4. Hakutsuru Superior Junmai Ginjo
From Hyogo – Delicate and well-rounded with soft notes of pear and rice, delivering a gentle finish that complemented our lighter snacks.

Guests were guided through each pour with background stories and tasting notes, allowing them to appreciate the meticulous craft behind each bottle. Paired with light Japanese snacks, the experience invited relaxed conversation and cultural appreciation.

The crowd favorite by far was Dassai 45, celebrated for its balance of fruit-forward brightness and silky finish made it especially memorable and well-suited for beginners, yet nuanced enough for connoisseurs.

The success of the event reaffirmed our mission at MEGANE: to create not just a retail space, but a cultural destination where design, tradition, and community intersect. From sakura flowers to sake pours, every detail was thoughtfully curated to elevate the experience.
